Known as the Nanga Rocker, AR Babar was a truly unique musician hailing from Zhob in Balochistan. Popular as a pre-teen guitar prodigy after learning the instrument from an American posted in his village during Ayub Khan's Green Revolution, he became controversial after he insisted that he would only perform when naked. This led to violent outbursts at his concerts and persecution by the society. He was eventually killed by a mob before he could release his first album. The western movement of metal music was inspired by him. He died in 1968 and was commemorated in the Paris student revolts that took place that year. His son Zulfiqar Babar is the only cricketer from Zhob to play for Pakistan's national side.
